Introduction

Located in Baoshan, Shanghai, the 140 seamless steel tube factory was built during the first phase of Baosteel's development project. The major seamless steel tube production equipment supplied by the German company Mannesmann is a combination of multiple state-of-the-art processes, such as the two skew-roll piercing process with Diesel guide disk, the fully-floating longandrel rolling process, the pipe end upset control by the stretch reducing mill based on the crop end control (CEC) technique, the online wall thickness testing, the nondestructive inspection, the thread machining by NC lathe, and the inertia friction weld-on drill pipes.

The seamless production unit produces tubing and casing, drill pipes, non-dig drill pipes, insulated tubes, tubes for perforating gun, line pipes, boiler tubes, structural tubes, transmission pipes, hydraulic prop pipes, oil cracking pipes, tubes for gas cylinder, pipes for geological drilling, pipes for ship, tubes for automobile, tubes for high-pressure chemical fertilizer equipment, pup joints and other products. Supplied in accordance with advanced international and domestic standards as well as Baosteel's corporate standards, all the products are featured by advantages such as stable chemical composition, low contents of impurities such as S and P, high precision, low ovality, good surface quality, and stable mechanical properties and widely applied in different industries such as petroleum and gas, boilers, building structures and pipeline transmission.
