Bloom Steel Production Line

Introduction

Located within the Baoshan major base of Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., the bloom steel production line was put into production in September, 1985.

With its major equipment imported from Nippon Steel Corporation, the bloom steel production line has been further developed in recent years with new additions of a 1-million-ton bloom heating furnace, a 300-thousand-ton bloom finishing line and a 300-thousand round billet finishing line, and its planned annual capacity of steel billets has been up to 3 million tons. Consisting of the soaking pit furnace, the blooming unit, the continuous casting unit and the finishing line, etc., the major production line is equipped with the most advanced technologies and equipment for blooming. Its product portfolio is composed of the square steel series, the steel plate and sheet series and the round steel series. As for the square steel series, the production line has got the square steel for railroad car axle such as LZ50, the high-pressure square steel for oxygen cylinder such as 34Mn2V, and the square steel for marine forging shaft such as 42CrMo. As for the steel sheet and plate series, it has got the plastic die steel such as 48C, the BP cavity mold steel series such as B30 and B30M, and the hot work die steel such as H13 and 5CrNiMoV. As for the round steel series, it has got the round steel for automobile transmission shaft such as 48MnV, the round steel for automobile gear such as 20CrMnTi and the round steel for drill collar such as 4145H.

The bloom steel production line focuses on the high quality and adopts the Baosteel Through-going Quality Contorl Management to realize optimized control of the whole process. The products quality has been constantly improved through the advanced quality control method.

The bloom steel production line has got its main products such as the billet for rail (track) vehicle axles, the billet for seamless gas cyclinder, the die steel series (such as the non-tempered pre-hardened plastic die steel, the hot work die steel, the B20 micro-alloyed non-tempered plastic die steel, and the B30H non-tempered pre-hardened plastic die steel), the steel for gear, the steel for transmission shaft, the mandrel steel, the steel for oil drilling, and the steel for mooring chain widely recognized among the users.
