Baosteel has started producing spring steel wire rods since its launch of its wire rod line. Cold Heading Steel Wire Rod

Since its launch in 1999, the bar steel business department of the Tube, Pipe and Bar Business Unit of Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. has been producing high-quality cold heading steel wire rods for 15 years. Its major products include SWRCH6A ~ SWRCH22A series of cold heading carbon steel and SWRCH10K ~ SWRCH50K series of cold heading carbon steel in conformity with Baosteel BQB standards, low-alloy cold heading steel represented by SCM435, SCr440, ML20MnTiB, ML20MnVB, and 10B21, as well as ultra-low carbon steel wire rods with good drawing and cold heading performance represented by B-CH1T and B-CH1A. In recent years, Baosteel has been expanding its portfolio of cold heading steel wire rods with enhanced quality and can supply products in accordance with JIS G3507, JIS G4501, JIS G4503, ASTM A29/A29M-12, GB/T 6478, EN 10263-4 or user agreements. The diameter of available wire rods ranges from ¦µ5.5mm ~ ¦µ28.0mm.

Baosteel products are widely used in industries such as automobiles, bridges, electronics, equipment manufacturing and bicycles, and 80% of them are used for the automotive sector. The main partners include FAW-Volkswagen, Shanghai Volkswagen, Shanghai GM, Dongfeng Group, Chang'an Group, Dongfeng Nissan, and Beijing Hyundai. For high-grade car users, Baosteel exercises strict quality control process, and has launched better-quality B series of cold heading steel for automobiles.

Steel for Bridge Cable

Product Overview

Galvanized steel wire products are mainly used for stay ropes and cables of bridges as well as anchor tension members and external prestressed structures. China used to rely on imported steel wires and wire rods for a long time. From 2001, Baosteel started trial production of wire rods for bridges and achieved success in 2004. Now, its products have been applied in large quantities to Sutong Bridge, Ma'anshan Yangtze River Bridge, 4th Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, Wuhan Yingwuzhou Yangtze River Bridge, Taizhou Yangtze River Bridge and San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. At present, it is developing wire rods for galvanized steel wires, including §¶5.0mm 1960MPa series and §¶7.0mm 1860Mpa series.

Tire Cord Steel Wire Rod

Product Overview

Baosteel tire cord steel wire rods contain a complete series of tire cord steel products ranging from B72LX to B96LX. Baosteel is capable of producing 0.15mm tire cord steel. At present, it has supplied tire cord steel in large quantities to users such as Michelin, Bridgestone, Bekaert, Pirelli, Hyosung, Kiswire, Junma, and Jiaxing Eastern Steel Cord Co., Ltd.

Wire Rod for Prestressed Steel Wire Strand

Product Overview

Prestressed steel wire strand products are mainly used for reinforced concrete structures and prestressed structures and have been widely applied to projects such as bridges, nuclear power plants, dams, elevated highways, and high-rise buildings. The strength levels include 1570MPa, 1670MPa, 1770MPa, 1860MPa and 2000MPa. Now, the widely used one is 1860MPa prestressed steel wire strand, and corresponding Baosteel grades include SWRH82B, SWRH82B-1, and SWRH82B-2, of which SWRH82B-1 is the representative grade.

Wire Rod for High-Carbon Chromium Bearing Steel

Product Overview

Bearing steel is mainly used for manufacturing ball bearings and needle bearings. It can also be used for manufacturing precision measuring tools, cold dies, machine screws and precision couplings of diesel pumps. Bearings at work must withstand immense pressure and friction, so bearing steel is required to have high and uniform hardness and wearability and high elastic limit. Besides, the requirements on uniformity of chemical composition, contents and distribution of non-metallic impurities as well as distribution of carbide are also strict, so bearing steel is one of the most demanding to produce of all steel varieties. Baosteel bearing steel's main grade is GCr15, the metallurgical quality of which has been recognized by well-known companies such as SKF and FAG.
