Apart from uniform hardness and distribution as well as good machinability, polishability and weldability, Baosteel's new B-series of non-tempered pre-hardened plastic die steel is featured by no need for heat treatment, which shortens the production process and lowers production costs. Steel for Railway Axle

Certified and approved by the Ministry of Railways in 1996, Baosteel became the first steel manufacturer to produce LZ50 steel for railway axle. As China's railway transportation is increasingly featured by fast speeds and heavy loads, there has been a demand for high-strength and high-toughness steel for railway axle. In accordance with the market needs, Baosteel has developed and launched EA1N, LZ45CrV, and other steel products for urban railway axle and heavy-duty truck axle. At present, EA1N has been widely recognized by the market.

Steel for Automobile Crankshaft

The crankshaft is a key component of an automobile engine and has high requirements on steel quality. Baosteel's steel for automobile crankshaft is divided into tempered steel and non-tempered steel. Tempered steel is used for producing medium- and heavy-duty truck engine crankshafts, while non-tempered steel is used for manufacturing PV engine crankshafts. At present, Baosteel has developed more than ten crankshaft steel varieties which have been approved for volume production and applied for engines of Dongfeng Cummins, Dongfeng Nissan, FAW Wuxi Diesel, Mercedes-Benz trucks, Cummins, Shanghai Diesel Engine, Weichai, and Sany Heavy Industry. Baosteel's products have been recognized by important domestic and international users because of their consistent quality and good performance

Mooring Chain Steel

Mooring chain steel products, R4 and R5, are mainly for offshore drilling platforms. Baosteel¡¯s die casting production line started trial production of R4 mooring chain steel in 2006, and Baosteel received ABS factory certification for R4 in 2007. Baosteel¡¯s EAF continuous casting production line started trial production of R4 and R5 mooring chain steel in 2009, and in the same year, Baosteel received ABS/DNV factory certification for R4 series of mooring chain steel. In 2010, it received ABS¡¯s case-by-case certification for R5 series. At present, Baosteel R5 has been applied in CNOOC¡¯s ¡°Offshore Oil 981" Sixth-Generation 3000-meter Deepwater Semi-submersible Drilling Platform and two offshore platforms developed by Vyborg Shipyard JSC in the North Sea.

High-Alloy Round Steel

At present, Baosteel¡¯s high-alloy steel tube billets mainly include steel tubes for boiler which are applied in the boiler industry, including SA-213 T91, SA-213 T92, SA-213 T9 and corrosion-resistant OCTG for the oil industry such as 2Cr13.

Tubes for Gas Cylinder

Seamless steel gas cylinders are used for storing compressed gases. The requirement on their safety performance is relatively high, and the requirement on steel quality is even stricter. Baosteel has more than 20 years of experience in producing steel billets for gas cylinders and has established a good reputation in China. At present, Baosteel can adopt either the continuous casting process or the die casing process to produce steel billets for gas cylinder, depending on different requirements regarding dimensions and quality. Seamless gas cylinders which are produced by adopting the drawing process are better than gas cylinders based on other processes in terms of comprehensive performance and reliability. Baosteel is the first Chinese manufacturer to successfully develop gas cylinder steel with working pressure up to 30MPa, and it is superior to other domestic steel manufacturers in terms of technological and quality levels. Now, it has supplied products in large quantities to major gas cylinder manufacturers such as Beijing Tianhai and Zhejiang Jindun to produce high-performance gas cylinders for European markets.

Forging Steel

Baoshan CrMo forging steel series can be used to produce products such as large flanges, tube plates, blind plates, manhole covers, mechanical shafts, gears and other products after processes such as forging and heat treatment and can be applied for high-end dies, shipbuilding, power station boilers, and oil pipelines. The thickness of steel billets ranges from 200mm to 500mm. Baosteel also keeps its die casting production line, with capacities of 10 tons, 15 tons, 20 tons, and 30 tons of ingot mold. With high reduction rolling of the blooming mill, interior quality of steel billets is ensured.
